About us
Clan Abroad is for families who travel to Europe together, across generations. Grandparents who walk a little slower, parents who do most of the planning, kids who need a playground more than a third museum, and sometimes an aunt, a cousin or a stroller too. Most of our readers fly from the United States, often for the first time to Europe, in groups of four to twelve.
One rule behind every guide
A trip for three generations comes down to one rule: you are planning for the slowest walker and the shortest attention span at the same time. So our itineraries give each day one main activity, a real break after lunch, and an optional extra for whoever still has energy. Every day is marked easy, moderate or busy, with the walking time and where you can sit down.
What we cover
- Itineraries by country and by city, with a day-at-a-glance table and the pace of each day.
- Where to stay: connecting rooms, apartments for big groups, elevators, step-free entrances and how to ask for them.
- Getting around: trains, group fares, car rentals with seven or nine seats, car seats, and the assistance services for travelers who need help with stairs.
- Documents and health: passports for kids, traveling with grandchildren without their parents, medicines, insurance and the new European entry systems.
- Accessibility notes: what we found on the official pages of museums, railways and cities, and where to check before you go.
Facts with a date
Fares, entry rules and opening hours change. When a guide gives a price, a rule or an accessibility detail, it comes from the official page of the government, the railway, the city or the venue, and we say when we last checked it. When something changes, we update the guide and the date at the top.
Who writes
Clan Abroad is written by a small editorial team that also publishes travel guides on other parts of the world, signed together as the Clan Abroad editors.
